Permit a view into your class

Sometimes people need access to your class, but they’re not a student, a parent, or a teacher. Shadowing gives them the ability to log in to see what’s happening. They can see, but they can’t do (so they won’t be able to edit info or participate in discussions).

Specify the Shadow Type

You control of what they see - from class materials to student data. You specify one of three levels of access for each person who’s shadowing:

  1. View Rights: Allows the user to view class materials.

  2. View Grades Rights: Allows the user to view class materials and grades.

  3. View Student Data Rights: Allows the user to view class materials, grades, and student work (e.g. Dropbox submissions, Assessment attempts, Discussion posts, etc).

A school can set what access a parent has to their child's data, too.

What’s the practical application?

Enable tutors and coaches - anyone, really - to keep tabs on their students’ academic info. Use Shadowing for:

  • A tutor who needs to access their tutees to view discussion posts, review assignments and monitor grades.

  • A principal wants to monitor their teachers to check in on the curriculum in their classes.

  • A coach wants to keep an eye on his team members grades to ensure their academic eligibility.
