“Migrating to Haiku has been the easiest technology rollout I have ever been involved with.”
~ Jason Curtis, Chair of Technology Committee,
Online School for Girls
The harmony, simplicity, and community of Haiku LMS reaches all users: students, teachers, parents, and Haiku Domain Administrators. In fact, the Haiku interface is as easy to use for Domain Admins as it is for educators, and we included a number of features that make life easier for IT staff, too.
Masquerading provides a means for Domain Admins to view exactly what another user -- parents, student, or teacher -- sees. Imagine the implications for tech support, for filling in for someone, or for testing. Masquerading comes with all the power of the user’s account, so as you masquerade as a teacher you can create, edit, and delete just as that user would.
How can someone like a coach or a tutor view a class without having free reign? Shadowing! Domain Admins control what Shadowers see -- from class materials to student data. Specify one of three levels of access for each person who’s shadowing:
A school can set what access a parent has to their child's data, too.
Many districts already have technology in place that can tie directly into Haiku LMS. Whether it’s a student information System (SIS) that tracks enrollment, a gradebook that publishes academic results, or an advanced program that takes attendance, it likely has data that your learning management system needs, too.
Making the most out of your existing systems - whether importing from or exporting to -- is a strong suit of Haiku. It works hard to avoid the hassles and perils of double data entry whenever possible. It can integrate with your SIS to tie into student names, rosters, and classes.
It gives as well as takes. While you may need to use your existing gradebook and attendance tools for advanced reporting, you may also have teachers who prefer to keep track of their classroom information in Haiku LMS.
Haiku currently supports the following integration options:
We’ve carefully designed integration options to make working with Haiku LMS as streamlined as possible. We’re interested in working closely with you to make your integration process a success. While we can’t directly manage your existing systems (e.g. setting up the export process from your SIS or imports into your Gradebook or Attendance tools), many vendors are willing to assist schools with the these processes, but depending on your standing contract may charge a fee.
Haiku has a very flexible report generator that gives users the ability to pull grade information from the Domain Admin in the formats that they need to insert the grades into their SIS.
View aggregated web statistic data by organization, class, or user. See what resources are being used, how long they are being used, and by whom. Use this information as a remediation tool to help students who lag behind.
Group users by organizations to set school-specific settings such as limiting features, selecting school-specific skins, and defining class schedules. You can also use it to define school-specific grading scales and notations.
